Who is eligible for the MA in Applied Cognitive Science, and what applying for the 2026/27 class involves.

Eligible applicants

If you meet either A or B requirements, consider applying for an MA in Applied Cognitive Science.

  • Option A

    I have earned a minimum of 180 credits (ECTS) in

    • humanities,
    • social sciences,
    • technical sciences,
    • or natural sciences.

  • Option B

    I have earned 180 credits (ECTS) in

    • other scientific fields
    • or equivalent study programs;

    Note these applicants will be required to take additional courses from the disciplines constituting the hexagon of cognitive science.

Application timeline

Graduate Program Applied Cognitive Science 2026/27.

  1. June 5, 2026 1st application round

    First day for submitting applications for the qualification procedure.

    Applications must be sent by mail or submitted in person to the Registry Office (Urudžbeni ured) of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

    • Sending by mail

      Mandatory with return receipt.

      The envelope should be addressed to:

    • Submitting in person

      At the Registry Office of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb.

      • Office hours: 09:00 - 14:00 (break 11:00 - 11:30)
      • Be sure to request confirmation that your application has been officially registered.

    • Foreign applicants

      May submit their application by sending the required documents via email to:

    Candidates need to prepare the following documentation:

    1. Transcript of grades

      Exams passed up to the moment of application.

    2. Motivation letter

      In English, length: 500–1000 words. Candidates are advised to consider the following points when writing the motivation letter:

      • Your application letter should give us some insight into who you are.
      • It should be structured to provide some answers to what, why, and how.
      • It should include: past experiences, current activities and interests (curricular and extracurricular), skills and achievements related to the program, goals and expectations from the program, reasons for selecting our program.
    3. One recommendation letter from a professor from the undergraduate program

      In English or Croatian.

    4. Proof of English language proficiency

      Any of the following:

      • TOEFL: minimum 230 computer-based, 570 paper-based, or 88 internet-based;
      • proof of having completed a BA degree in English;
      • (minimum) B2 level on an exam taken at the Center for Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb (more information about test dates and format can be found on the Center’s website).
    5. Copy of an ID card

      Or passport.

    6. CV in English or Croatian

      Format of your choice; include all contact details: address, mobile phone number, email address.

  2. July 3, 2026 1st application round

    Last day to submit applications for the qualification procedure

  3. July 6 – July 10, 2026 1st application round

    Document review

    Evaluation of submitted documents and selection of candidates who will be invited for interviews in the first week of September.

  4. July 13, 2026 1st application round

    Sending notifications

    Selected candidates will receive an email notification with their interview appointment.

  5. September 1 – September 4, 2026 1st application round

    Interviews with candidates

    All interviews will take place at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb – Room: TBA (to be announced).

  6. September 8, 2026

    Publication of results

    The ranking list of candidates will be available no later than 10:00 AM on the website of the Center for Cognitive Science.

    There is a 24-hour period from the time of publication of the ranking list for appeals. Appeals must be submitted in person to the Student Affairs Office (Referada) of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

    Students who appear on the list of admitted candidates must confirm their intention to enrol by sending an email to cogsci.admission@ffzg.unizg.hr.

  7. September 24 and September 25, 2026

    Enrolment

    Check the website of the Center for Cognitive Science for instructions. To enrol, it is necessary to have the undergraduate degree diploma or document confirming your graduation.
